Realising the potential of Q methodology in nursing research

Background Mixed methods research designs are becoming increasingly popular in nursing to explore complex clinical issues and generate knowledge useful improve the quality of practice clients’ health outcomes. Q methodology is one such design that combines strengths both qualitative quantitative approaches examine scientifically peoples’ subjectivity towards a subject area. Aim This paper aims provide an introduction outlines steps taken when conducting on issues. Methods A example nurses caring for clients with risk aggression used illustrate how was this The five sequential phases Q-methodology integrate continuous interaction single study design, enabling researchers breadth depth factors influence participants’ responses topic under investigation.
